SAN JOSE, Calif., April 7 (UPI) -- A goal in the 62nd minute Saturday by Corey Hertzog lifted Vancouver into a 1-1 tie with San Jose.

San Jose remained tied with Real Salt Lake in fourth place in the Western Conference and Vancouver stayed one point behind them.

Chris Wondolwski gave Vancouver the lead in the 18th minute by scoring from the right edge of the box off a pass from Alan Gordon.

Hertzog's goal into the left corner of the net was unassisted after he had taken the ball into the middle of the penalty area.

San Jose's Jon Busch made six saves. Joe Cannon had to stop just two shots for the Whitecaps.
