LOS ANGELES, April 6 (UPI) -- Zack Grienke tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings Friday in his debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates went down quietly 3-0 Friday.

Grienke (1-0), who signed a six-year, $147 million contract in the off-season, doled out just two hits while striking out six.

The Dodgers offense came from Andre Ethier, who smacked a solo home run, and Matt Kemp and Adrian Gonzalez, who each hit RBI doubles.

Brandon League's 1-2-3 ninth inning performance gave him his first save of 2013.

Singles by Andrew McCutchen and Garrett Jones were the only hits for the light-hitting Pirates, who had just six runs and 13 hits in their opening series against the Chicago Cubs.

Jonathan Sanchez (0-1) took the loss, giving up all three runs on six hits in five-plus innings.
