DETROIT, April 6 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 with an RBI while Prince Fielder and Andy Dirks each drove two runs Saturday in Detroit's 8-4 spanking of the New York Yankees.

Austin Jackson added three hits with three runs scored and Torii Hunter went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Tigers, who rapped out 17 hits in their second straight win over the Yankees.

Fielder's run-scoring groundout and Dirks' RBI single in the sixth helped turn back a New York rally after the Yankees had narrowed their deficit to 5-4.

Max Scherzer (1-0) struck out seven over five innings to earn the victory. The right-hander yielded four runs on five hits while walking two.

Yankees starter Phil Hughes (0-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits over four full frames.

Vernon Wells homered and Lyle Overbay added two RBI for New York.
