CHICAGO, April 4 (UPI) --
Kevin Shattenkirk ended a wild shootout by scoring in the sixth round Thursday, giving St. Louis a 4-3 victory over Chicago.
Both sides scored in each of the opening two rounds of the shootout and in the fourth round as well.
After Michal Handzus missed for the Blackhawks to start the sixth round, Shattenkirk beat Corey Crawford to bring the Blues their second straight win. Chicago had captured its previous two games.
St. Louis trailed by a goal heading into the third period, but took the lead on scores from Adam Cracknell and David Backes. The goal from Cracknell was his second of the game and third of the season.
Viktor Stalberg then forced overtime by putting a wrist shot past Brian Elliott with 4:31 left in regulation.
Elliott made 33 saves while Crawford stopped 19-of-22 shots before letting in 4-of-6 in the shootout.
