Clowe had two goals and an assist one day after coming to the Rangers in a trade with San Jose. Brassard produced a goal and four assists following a deal between the Rangers and Columbus.

Brian Boyle touched off a three-goal first period and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 26-of-27 shots for the Rangers.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 33 saves in taking the loss.
