WASHINGTON, April 3 (UPI) -- Gio Gonzalez combined with four relievers on a four-hitter Wednesday and Washington recorded its second shutout in as many games -- 3-0 over Miami.

The Nationals' pitching staff has yet to give up a run this season, Wednesday's shutout following a 2-0 blanking of the Marlins in their season opener Monday.

Gonzalez gave up two hits over six innings and struck out five. He also delivered Washington's first run with a homer in the fifth. Rafael Soriano completed the work of the bullpen, working the ninth to pick up his second save in as many appearances.

A fielder's choice grounder from Denard Span brought home a run in the seventh and Ryan Zimmerman singled in another in the eighth.

Kevin Slowey took the loss, giving up the Gonzalez homer and three other hits over 5 1/3.
