MLB: St. Louis 6, Arizona 1

PHOENIX, April 3 (UPI) -- Three home runs Tuesday powered the St. Louis Cardinals past the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1.

Matt Holliday and Jon Jay each connected for two-run shots and Pete Kozma added a solo homer in support of Jaime Garcia (1-0), who allowed one run on two hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Allen Craig accounted for the other St. Louis run with a fourth-inning ground ball that tied the game 1-1. The Redbirds then scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to fly away with the win.

Miguel Montero drove in Arizona's only run with a solo home run leading off the second inning. Trevor Cahill (0-10) struck out seven but took the loss with three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
