TAMPA, Fla., April 2 (UPI) -- Florida's Peter Mueller put a shot past Mathieu Garon for the only goal in a shootout Tuesday and the Panthers held on to post a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay.

The score came in the first round of the tiebreaker, and Florida needed stops by Jacob Markstrom on Teddy Purcell, Victor Hedman and Steven Stamkos to seal the win -- Florida's third straight.

Markstrom turned aside 39 shots in a busy performance while Greg Rallo and Tomas Kopecky each found the net in the victory.

Alex Killorn and Tom Pyatt scored and Garon stopped 23 shots for the fading Lightning, who fell for the fourth time in six games.
