MLB: Cleveland 4, Toronto 1

TORONTO, April 2 (UPI) -- Asdrubal Cabrera backed Justin Masterson's strong outing with a two-run homer Tuesday, pacing the Cleveland Indians to a 4-1 season-opening win over Toronto.

Masterson (1-0) helped spoil the Blue Jays' home opener by limiting his opponents to just one run on three hits over six innings, overcoming four walks while striking out five.

Chris Perez fired a scoreless ninth to record his first save.

Drew Stubbs and Lonnie Chisenhall each provided an RBI for the Indians, who finished with a 68-94 mark last season.

Reigning National League Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey (0-1) was roughed up in his debut for Toronto, yielding four runs (three earned) on five hits while walking four and fanning four.

Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia had trouble corralling Dickey's knuckleball -- he was charged with three passed balls.
