Murray defeated Ferrer in Sunday's final of the Masters-level Sony Open in Miami after beating Gasquet in the semifinals.
Federer, Nadal and Tipsarevic all dropped one spot in the rankings this week. It is the first time since Nov. 10, 2003, that both Federer and Nadal are outside the Top 2.
Novak Djokovic is still No. 1 with a point total of 12,370 while Murray is at 8,750 and Federer is third, 80 points behind Murray. Ferrer has 7,050 points and Nadal has 6,385 for fifth.
The ATP has no tournaments scheduled this week to make time for the Davis Cup quarterfinals, which include a series in Boise, Idaho, pitting the Djokovic-led Serbian team against the United States. Also, the defending champion Czech Republic plays at Kazakhstan, Italy goes against Canada in British Columbia and France travels to Buenos Aires to meet the Argentines.
