SAN JOSE, Calif., March 31 (UPI) -- Logan Couture
provided the only goal in a shootout Saturday, lifting the San Jose Sharks to a fourth straight win, 3-2 over Phoenix.
Couture, shooting first in the tiebreaker, shot the puck between Coyotes goalkeeper Jason LaBarbara's pads.
Antti Niemi, meanwhile, made stops on Steve Sullivan and Mikkel Boedker for the Sharks, who forced extra time when Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored the tying goal with 5 minutes left in regulation.
Joe Pavelski also scored and Niemi finished with 27 saves for the Sharks, which moved into the sixth seed in the Western Conference with their fifth win in six games overall.
Boyd Gordon and Radim Vrbata scored for Phoenix, which remained three points out of a post-season slot in the West.
LaBarbara made 32 saves.
