WASHINGTON, March 30 (UPI) -- President Obama took in the NCAA Tournament game between Syracuse and Marquette Saturday afternoon at the Verizon Center in Washington.

Obama drew loud applause from the crowd when his image was flashed on the arena's big screen about 4:50 p.m. EDT. The president, dressed casually, smiled and waved.

Obama sat between friends Marty Nesbitt and Reggie Love during the game, which Syracuse won 55-39 to reach the Final Four.

Earlier in the day, Obama golfed at the Joint Base Andrews course with Nesbitt, Love and Michael Brush.
