March 29, 2013 at 1:06 AM

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 29 (UPI) -- Antti Niemi stopped 27 shots to pick up his second shutout in as many nights Thursday, bringing San Jose a 2-0 victory over Detroit.

Niemi blanked Anaheim on Wednesday and now has three shutouts for the year and 22 in his five NHL seasons.

The Sharks have captured three in a row while Detroit had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Joe Pavelski scored on a wraparound shot that got past Jimmy Howard with 1:01 to play in the first period and the other San Jose goal came from Brent Burns 2:07 into the third.

Howard made 22 saves in the loss.
