Ed Reed leaves Ravens for Houston Texans

HOUSTON, March 22 (UPI) -- Ed Reed, an eight-time All-Pro safety, is leaving the Baltimore Ravens for the Houston Texas, the Texans said Friday.

Reed, 34, was drafted in the first round of the 2002 draft by Baltimore and has spent his entire NFL career with the Ravens.

Reed, who appeared at a news conference Friday morning in Houston, was a free agent and has agreed to a three-year deal worth $15 million, including $5 million guaranteed, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Reed totaled 61 interceptions in 160 NFL games. He led the league in interceptions three times.

Reed had four interceptions and 58 tackles in the regular season last year in helping the Ravens to the Super Bowl.

"That's 11 years that's just storybook," Reed said of leaving the Ravens. "I'm proud to say the last game was the Super Bowl in Baltimore. That will never be taken back."

He said he's "always be grateful to my fans, the city -- so many things."
