SAN FRANCISCO, March 19 (UPI) -- Edinson Volquez fired five innings of one-run ball Monday and the Dominican Republic gained the WBC championship game with a 4-1 win over the Netherlands.

Volquez (1-0) allowed one run on a pair of hits, walking two and striking out five for the Dominicans, who will meet Puerto Rico Tuesday in the World Baseball Classic final at San Francisco.

Puerto Rico advanced with a victory over Japan in Sunday's first WBC semifinal.

Kelvin Herrera and Pedro Strop combined for three frames of shutout relief and Fernando Rodney logged a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up the save.

Jose Reyes, Edwin Encarnacion and Moises Sierra each delivered an RBI for the Dominicans.

Netherlands starter Diegomar Markwell (0-1) absorbed the loss, yielding four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.
