NEWARK, N.J., March 19 (UPI) -- Rick Nash provided the game-winning goal and the New York Rangers forged a tie with New Jersey for a playoff spot Tuesday with their 3-2 win over the Devils.

Michael Del Zotto set up Nash's decisive tally and also supplied a short-handed goal as the Rangers notched a second straight win and joined the Devils in the eighth and final Eastern Conference post-season spot with 32 points.

Henrik Lundqvist played well with 29 saves and Carl Hagelin also scored for New York.

The slumping Devils fell for the third straight time despite scores from Travis Zajac and Anton Volchenkov.

Johan Hedberg made 19 saves in the loss.
