Michael Jordan off hook for paternity

ATLANTA, March 18 (UPI) -- An Atlanta woman has dropped her paternity suit against NBA great Michael Jordan, her attorney said Monday.

Randall M. Kessler, the attorney for Pamela Y. Smith, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution via email she "has authorized a dismissal of the current suit against Mr. Jordan."

Smith filed her paternity claim in Fulton County Superior Court this year. Jordan, 50, counter-sued, contending the teen's parentage was established in a 2003 divorce case in which Smith acknowledged her now-ex-husband, Glennville G. Reynolds, was the father of the now-16-year-old boy.

Kessler said his client "determined that dismissal at this time, without prejudice, is in her son's best interest." The newspaper said it was unclear whether there had been a settlement.
