NHL: Pittsburgh 2, Boston 1

PITTSBURGH, March 17 (UPI) -- Tomas Vokoun turned aside 31-of-32 shots Sunday, backstopping the surging Pittsburgh Penguins to their ninth straight win, 2-1 over Boston.

Vokoun -- the Penguins' backup goalie -- stopped all 12 shots he faced in the third period to maintain Pittsburgh's one-goal lead, improving to 6-3-0 on the season.

Sidney Crosby notched his 13th goal in the first period, giving him an NHL-best 48 points, and Joe Vitale also found the net for Eastern Conference-leading Pittsburgh, which hasn't lost since Feb. 28.

Tyler Seguin scored and Tuukka Rask made 16 saves for the Bruins, who fell for only the second time in seven games.
