WBC: Dominican Republic 2, Puerto Rico 0

MIAMI, March 16 (UPI) -- Wandy Rodriguez fired six scoreless innings Saturday and the Dominican Republic handled Puerto Rico 2-0 in Pool 2 play of the World Baseball Classic.

Rodriguez (1-0) struck out four while allowing just two hits and two walks in the victory, which kept the Dominicans undefeated in the WBC and moved them into Monday's Pool C semifinals, where they will face the Netherlands.

Fernando Rodney notched a save and Carlos Santana belted a go-ahead solo homer in the fifth inning for the Dominican Republic.

Puerto Rico's Orlando Roman (0-1) took the loss despite yielding just one run on two hits with two walks over five innings.
