PHILADELPHIA, March 15 (UPI) -- Claude Giroux scored the game-winner in the second round of the shootout Friday, lifting Philadelphia to a 2-1 victory over New Jersey.

Giroux put the puck under the stick of Johan Hedberg, after which Ilya Bryzagalov stopped a shot by David Clarkson to clinch the win. It was the first time in franchise history the Flyers had beaten the Devils in a shootout.

Philadelphia took the lead late in the first period on a slap shot from Maxime Talbot, but the Devils tied it in the second on David Clarkson's deflection.

Bryzgalov stopped 27 shots overall while Hedberg was credited with 21 saves. New Jersey had won three of its previous four games.
