ST. LOUIS, March 14 (UPI) -- Jake Allen stopped 28 shots and picked up the first shutout of his career Thursday, lifting St. Louis over Phoenix 3-0.
The Blues won for the fourth time in five games, getting an outstanding performance from their rookie goaltender. Allen improved to 7-1 in his inaugural NHL campaign.
Chris Stewart scored twice to run his goal total for the season to 13. He opened the scoring 5:54 into the second and he finished it with 5:29 to go in the third. Alexander Steen also tallied on a slap shot early in the final period.
Mike Smith gave up the three goals on 30 shots. Phoenix had won its previous two games.
