Shawn Horcroff, Sam Gagner, Magnus Paajarvi and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins accounted for the Oilers' goals in a game in which they were only whistled for penalties twice. Nugent-Hopkins' third-period goal came on one of Edmonton's four power plays.

Semyon Varlamov turned in 27 saves, but could not extend Colorado's two-game winning streak, which included wins over the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose.
