ST. CHARLES, Mo., March 13 (UPI) -- The state of Missouri says former MLB slugger Darryl Strawberry and his wife owe more than $8,000 in back taxes.

State revenue officials claim in a lien filed in St. Charles County Circuit Court the former player for the Mets, Dodgers and Yankees owes $8,583 in income taxes for 2011, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday.

With interest, the total debt is $8,786.86.

Strawberry and his wife, Tracy, moved to St. Charles several years ago, where he runs the Darryl Strawberry Foundation, which fights autism.
