WASHINGTON, March 12 (UPI) -- Justin Peters turned in his second career shutout Tuesday, backstopping the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-0 whitewash of Washington.

Riley Nash led Southeast Division-leading Carolina's offense with a pair of goals.

Joe Corvo and Patrick Dwyer also scored as the surging Hurricanes tallied their sixth win in seven contests.

Braden Holtby turned aside 32 shots for slumping Washington, which fell for a third consecutive contest.
