WBC: Venezuela 11, Spain 6

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 10 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera blasted a solo homer and drove in three runs Sunday, propelling Venezuela to an 11-6 win over Spain at the World Baseball Classic.

Cabrera finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored while Elvis Andrus added two RBI and Pablo Sandoval contributed a solo shot for Venezuela.

R.A. Ramirez (1-0) earned the victory, yielding three runs on four hits while striking out four over four innings.

Spain was led by Barbaro Canizares, who belted a two-run homer.

Engel Beltre also went deep and Eddie Morlan (0-1) was tagged with the loss, surrendering three runs on three hits over three-plus frames.

Both Venezuela and Spain had earlier been eliminated from Pool C contention.
