NBA: Sacramento 121, Phoenix 112

SACRAMENTO, March 9 (UPI) -- Marcus Thornton hit two of the seven consecutive successful Sacramento shots down the stretch Friday, launching the Kings to a 121-112 victory over Phoenix.

During a hot stretch of shooting in the fourth quarter, the Suns made five shots in a row. Sacramento countered, however, with seven straight shots without a miss and the Kings needed that run to hold off Phoenix.

At the end of the Kings' streak of baskets they had a 116-105 lead with 2:44 to play. They still were not able to put away the Suns until Tyreke Evans made two free throws with 16 seconds to go that boosted Sacramento six points in front.

Isaiah Thomas led the Kings with 27 points, Evans had 25, Thornton contributed 23 and DeMarcus Cousins delivered 22 to go with 14 rebounds.

Michael Beasley scored 24 points for the Suns.

There are three teams in the Western Conference with at least 40 losses this year and this was a matchup of two of them.
