NHL: Anaheim 2, Phoenix 0

ANAHEIM, Calif., March 7 (UPI) -- Jonas Hiller had to make just 18 saves in recording his first shutout of the season Wednesday, lifting Anaheim to a 2-0 decision over Phoenix.

The shortened NHL schedule forced the teams to play for a third time in five days. Phoenix won the first two encounters in shootouts.

This is Hiller's sixth NHL season, all of them having been spent with Anaheim, and he now has 16 shutouts.

Corey Perry scored 7:10 into the game and Hiller was forced to protect a 1-0 lead until Ryan Getzlaf produced an empty-net goal with 21 seconds left in the third period.

Jason LaBarbera suffered the hard-luck loss, stopping 23-of-23 shots. The Sharks had won two in a row.
