
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 6 (UPI) -- Antti Niemi notched 36 saves Tuesday in San Jose's 3-2 shootout win on the road over the Vancouver Canucks
Joe Pavelski put an end to the contest with a goal in the fourth round of the shootout, giving the Sharks their third win in their last four games.
Niemi kept the Canucks off the scoreboard through the third period and overtime, although he allowed one score in the shootout. Scott Gomez and Adam Burish scored in regulation for San Jose.
Henrik Sedin and Jannik Hansen scored goals for the Canucks, who have lost four of their last five. Cory Schneider stopped 28-of-30 shots in goal.
San Jose jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Burish's shorthanded goal at 4:43 of the second period but Vancouver tied it at 19:35 of the period on Hansen's wrist shot.
