March 5, 2013 at 10:28 PM   |   Comments

RALEIGH, N.C., March 5 (UPI) -- Alexander Semin provided a goal and two assists Tuesday and the streaking Carolina Hurricanes held off Buffalo 4-3 to sweep their season's series.

Jussi Jokinen chipped in with a goal and an assist while Joe Corvo and Jiri Tlusty also scored as the Hurricanes finished with a 3-0 record against the Sabres in the 2012-13 season.

Justin Peters sparkled in his first start of the campaign, making 37 saves en route to the Carolina victory.

He was subbing for the ill Dan Ellis, who was promoted to the Hurricanes' No. 1 netminder this week after Cam Ward was sidelined with a sprained knee.

Cody Hodgson scored twice and Ryan Miller stopped 24-of-28 shots for the Sabres.
