ATLANTA, March 1 (UPI) -- A paternity suit was filed against retired basketball star Michael Jordan in Fulton County, Ga., the celebrity website TMZ reported.

Pamela Smith claims Jordan is the father of her son Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds, born in June 1996, the website said Friday.

Jordan was married at the time. He and his wife Juanita divorced in 2006.

Smith's lawsuit, filed Feb. 6, asks for full custody of the 16-year-old, child support and a judge's approval to make Jordan the boy's legal last name, TMZ said.
