NHL: Ottawa 2, Montreal 1 (SO)

OTTAWA, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Ben Bishop turned aside 44-of-45 shots and made a game-winning stop in a shootout Monday to deliver the Ottawa Senators a 2-1 win over Montreal.

Bishop's performance tied a club record for the most saves in a home victory for Ottawa, which racked up a fifth straight win and pulled into a second-place tie in the Northeast Division, two points behind the Canadiens.

After a scoreless overtime, the Senators' Peter Regin beat Carey Price with shot high into the net in the fifth round of the shootout, and Bishop then secured the win with a stop on Tomas Plekanec.

Dave Dziurzynski netted the Senators' regulation goal in the first period.

Andrei Markov scored and Price finished with 23 stops for Montreal, which fell for the second time in three games.
