Ferrer repeats title win, keeps No. 4 rank

LONDON, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- David Ferrer repeated his title at Buenos Aires and goes for a fourth consecutive championship this week in Mexico, looking to protect his world No. 4 ranking.

Ferrer collected his 20th career ATP championship with a three-set win Sunday over Stanislas Wawrinka at the Copa Claro in Buenos Aires. Fellow Top 10 play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga also picked up a tournament win, beating No. 6-ranked Tomas Berdych at the Open 13 final in France.

However, there was no change in the ATP Top 10.

Novak Djokovic reached the 70-week mark as No. 1. He has 12,960 points, more than 3,000 ahead of No. 2 Roger Federer (9,855), with Andy Murray in third with 8,480 points and Ferrer taking the fourth spot with 6,865.

Rafael Nadal has 5,755 points for No. 5, with Berdych (4,545) still sixth and Juan Martin del Potro (4,410) coming in No. 7. Tsonga has 3,660 points for eighth and is followed by No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic (3,215) and Richard Gasquet (2,880) is 10th.

Kei Nishikori won Sunday's final at the U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships in Memphis and jumps six places to No. 16.

Murray and Gasquet are the only Top 10 players not playing this week.

Ferrer and Nadal are the top seeds in Acapulco where Ferrer is looking for a fourth consecutive title at the Abierto Mexicano Teicel. Djokovic and Federer, the defending champion, headline the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

The other ATP tournament this week is the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships in Florida. No. 15-ranked John Isner is the top seed and Kevin Anderson, ranked 29th, is the defending champion.
