NBA: San Antonio 97, Phoenix 87

PHOENIX, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Kawhi Leonard and Patty Mills each scored 16 points Sunday and the San Antonio Spurs wrapped up a successful road trip with a 97-87 defeat of Phoenix.

Leonard added nine rebounds and three steals for the Spurs, who compiled a 7-2 record on their lengthy sojourn.

Tiago Splitter added 14 points, while Boris Diaw (12), Manu Ginobili (11) and Tim Duncan (10) also reached double figures.

San Antonio put the game away with a 14-0 run to start the second period.

The struggling Suns, meanwhile, lost for the seventh time in eight games despite Marcin Gortat's 21 points and 12 rebounds.
