NHL: Los Angeles 4, Colorado 1

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Jonathan Quick turned aside 23 shots and Jeff Carter notched the eventual game-winning goal Saturday in the Los Angeles Kings' 4-1 win over Colorado.

Quick's busiest period was the second, when he stopped 9-of-10 shots and helped the Kings to their third straight win and fifth in six contests overall.

Carter's tally late in the initial frame put Los Angeles ahead 2-0.

Dustin Brown, Trevor Lewis and Anze Kopitar also scored for the Kings.

Milan Hejduk scored and Semyon Varlamov posted 22 saves for Colorado, which fell despite the return of Gabriel Landeskog after an 11-game absence with a concussion.

The Avalanche captain assisted on Hejduk's goal.
