NHL: Colorado 6, Nashville 5

DENVER, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Jamie McGinn scored the eventual game-winning goal during a wild second period Monday that lifted the Colorado Avalanche to a 6-5 win over Nashville.

McGinn's tally off an assist from Matt Duchene 13:46 into the middle frame gave the Avalanche a 6-3 lead and was the sixth of seven tallies registered by the two teams during the span.

Duchene and Aaron Palushaj each provided a goal and two assists while Paul Stastny scored and provided a helper for the Avs, who reeled off four goals in the second-period outburst.

Tyson Barrie and Chuck Kobasew also found the net and Semyon Varlamov got the win despite yielding five goals on 38 shots as Colorado triumphed for the second time in three games.

Jonathon Blum, Mike Fisher, Sergei Kostitsyn, Shea Weber and Colin Wilson each notched a goal and an assist for the Predators, who dropped a second straight.

Chris Mason surrendered all six Colorado goals on 18 shots before Pekka Rinne relieved and turned aside 10-of-10 tries the rest of the way.
