NHL: New York Islanders 5, New Jersey 1

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- John Tavares recorded a hat trick and added an assist Saturday, powering the New York Islanders to a 5-1 victory over New Jersey.

Tavares scored two goals 1 1/2 minutes apart late in the second period to break a scoreless tie and then added a third score in the third for his fourth career hat trick and his 11th goal of the season.

Matt Moulson had a goal and three assists, Michael Grabner scored and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 30-of-31 shots for the Islanders, who have won two straight.

Marek Zidlicky scored and Johan Hedberg made 28 saves for the Devils, who lost for the second time in three contests.
