NBA: LA Clippers 125, LA Lakers 101

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin scored 16 of his 22 points in the first quarter Thursday and the Los Clippers led wire-to-wire in a 125-101 rout of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Chris Paul netted 24 points and dished off 13 assists for the Clippers, who outscored the Lakers 31-17 in the first quarter and cruised to their fourth straight victory.

Chauncey Billips drained five 3-pointers en route to 21 points while DeAndre Jordan logged 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant had 20 points, 11 assists and five rebounds for the Lakers, who fell to 0-3 against their Staples Center rivals this season, as the Los Angeles Times reported longtime team owner Jerry Buss was hospitalized in intensive care with cancer.

Dwight Howard contributed 18 points and Antawn Jamison came off the bench to pop in 17 for the Lakers.
