OTTAWA, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Al Montoya, subbing for an ill Ondrej Pavelec, responded with his third career shutout Saturday and the Winnipeg Jets edged Ottawa 1-0.
Montoya -- called into action when Pavelec came down with the flu -- stopped all 33 shots he saw as the Jets improved to 2-2 in February.
Alexei Ponikarovsky notched the game's only goal early in the third period when he redirected a shot by Kyle Wellwood past Ben Bishop and into the Ottawa net.
Bishop, himself a back-up to Craig Anderson, turned aside a 36-of-37 shots for the Senators, who fell for the fourth time in five contests.
