NBA: Washington 89, Brooklyn 74

WASHINGTON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A 20-point performance from Nene and an overpowering second quarter Friday brought Washington an 89-74 victory over Brooklyn.

The Wizards equaled their longest winning streak of the season with their third straight triumph. Since opening the campaign with a dozen consecutive losses, Washington has put together a 14-23 record.

Washington outscored Brooklyn in the second quarter 30-11 to take a 20-point halftime advantage and held on to hand the Nets their fifth loss in eight games.

Nene made 9-of-13 shots from the field and added 11 rebounds while Martell Webster had 16 points for the Wizards.

Brooklyn shot just 32 percent from the field and missed 13 foul shots in 32 attempts. The Nets were led by Deron Williams with 20 points.
