BOSTON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- The Boston Bruins announced Friday the snowstorm that struck New England would force a 6-hour delay in the start of Saturday's game with Tampa Bay.

The Bruins and Lightning had been scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. EST, but the bad weather forced a postponement in the start time until 7 p.m.

Schools were closed, flights were canceled and public transportation was shut down Friday as the storm began. Forecasters said the bad weather would begin to ease Saturday afternoon.
