PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Jonathan Huberdeau and Peter Mueller scored in the first two rounds of the shootout Thursday to bring Florida a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia.

Jose Theodore stopped Matt Read and Claude Giroux to open the shootout, resulting in the Flyers losing in extra time for the first time this season.

After the teams battled to a 1-1 tie through one period, Matt Read gave the Flyers the lead 2:42 into the second period. Philadelphia could not manage another goal for the rest of the game -- either in regulation, overtime or the shootout.

Stephen Weiss tied it on the power play midway through the third with his first score of the season.

Theodore stopped 30 shots. Ilya Bruzgalov suffered the loss while making 22 saves.
