NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Jeremy Evans of the Utah Jazz will attempt to defend his NBA slam dunk title during all-star weekend, the league announced Thursday.

Evans will be joined in the dunk competition by Eric Bledsoe of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kenneth Faried of Denver, Gerald Green of Indiana, Terrence Ross of Toronto and James White of New York.

In a change of format this year, three players from each conference will take part in separate competitions with the two winners then going head-to-head for the title.

The 3-point shooting contest will include Indiana's Paul George, Cleveland's Kyrie Irving, New York's Steve Novak, New Orleans' Ryan Anderson, San Antonio's Matt Bonner and Golden State's Stephen Curry. Minnesota's Kevin Love, who won the event last year, is on the injured list.

The All-Star Game will be played Feb. 17 in Houston.
