CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff has been sidelined with a lower body injury and is listed as day-to-day, the team announced Wednesday.
Kiprusoff didn't return for the third period of Calgary's 4-1 victory over Detroit Tuesday after sustaining an injury when he was knocked over by the Red Wings' Johan Franzen in the middle frame.
"In the second period I felt some discomfort in the lower body area," Kiprusoff said in a statement. "During the intermission, it was decided that I not return to play. I really believe that this is a short-term injury and over the next days, I'll work toward being ready as soon as possible."
The Flames signed goaltender Danny Taylor of the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Heat to a one- year, two-way contract after Kiprusoff's status was determined.
