NHL: Dallas 3, Colorado 2

DENVER, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Jamie Benn scored a pair of goals, including the go-ahead tally, and added an assist Monday in the Dallas Stars' 3-2 win over Colorado.

Benn opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 2:21 into the game and later broke a 2-2 tie with another marker late in the second period for the Stars, who handed the Avalanche their first home defeat of the season.

Brenden Morrow also scored and Kari Lehtonen turned aside 29-of-31 shots as Dallas improved to 2-1 in February.

Milan Hejduk and P.A. Parenteau each tallied while Paul Stastny assisted on both goals for Colorado.

Semyon Varlamov made 23 saves in the loss.
