NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- A power outage at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome Sunday during the second half of Super Bowl XLVII resulted in a 34-minute delay in the contest.

Half of the stadium lights went out with 13:28 to go in the third quarter and the Baltimore Ravens holding a 28-6 lead over the San Francisco 49ers, leading to a lengthy delay in the NFL's championship tilt.

There were conflicting initial reports over what caused the partial blackout.

CBS Sports reported stadium officials blamed the problem on an outside line feeding power into the facility, but the local electric utility, Entergy, said the power issue appeared to be on the stadium's side.

"Entergy is providing power to the Dome," the company said in a Twitter post.

Elevators, scoreboards and concessions around the stadium lost power while lights in the Superdome's locker rooms and hallways went out, NFL.com reported.
