SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Shootout goals by Michael Handzus and Dan Boyle kept San Jose unbeaten Thursday with a 3-2 victory over Edmonton.

The Sharks ran their season-starting record to 7-0 and are the only team in the NHL without a loss.

Edmonton rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn a point, but the Oilers could not put one past Antti Niemi in the shootout. Niemi made 28 saves in regulation time while Devan Dubnyk stopped 36 shots.

Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski scored for San Jose in a span of 39 seconds of the second period to give San Jose the lead.

Sam Gagner tipped in a shot midway through the second and Taylor Hall tied it 51 seconds into the third.

Edmonton had won its previous two games.
