VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Veteran Roberto Luongo made 24 saves in recording the 61st shutout of his career Wednesday, carrying Vancouver to a 3-0 victory over Colorado.

Both teams had lost their previous two games, but Luongo stopped the Canucks' skid with his first blanking of the season. He is beginning his 13th year in the NHL and his seventh with Vancouver.

The Canucks had only 20 shots on goal, but three of them got past Semyon Varlamov -- one in each period.

Jason Garrison opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 7:34 into the game and Maxim Lapierre tallied with 4:48 to go in the second period.

Zack Kassian produced a power-play goal 8:18 into the third. It was his fifth of the young season, moving him into a share of third place on the goal-scoring list.
