Mark Grace on jail time for DUI: 'I deserve to be here'
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Antti Niemi made 28 saves Tuesday and was perfect in the shootout portion of undefeated San Jose's 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Niemi turned aside all three Anaheim attempts in the shootout, including Teemu Selanne's bid, which rang off the crossbar and ended the contest.
Logan Couture tied the game with a goal at 17:15 of the third period. Michal Handzus scored the only goal of the shootout for the Sharks, who improved to 6-0-0 for the season.
Joe Pavelski gave San Jose a 1-0 in the first period but Anaheim took a 2-1 lead on goals in the second period by Francois Beauchemin and Matt Beleskey.
Jonas Hiller made 16 saves on 18 shots in regulation. San Jose came into the game averaging 30 shots per game.
