WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Mementos from gymnast Gabrielle Douglas' 2012 Olympics performance will be displayed in the Smithsonian Institution, the museum said.

The gold medal-winning American gymnast's wrist tape, uneven-bar grips and access credentials to the London games are among the keepsakes Douglas donated to the Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, and will be displayed beginning Feb. 1, the (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Wednesday.

A leotard Douglas wore in her first competitive season, 2003, will also be on display, a release from the museum said.

Douglas was the first female African-American to win an Olympic gold medal in the women's all-around gymnastics competition, and the first American gymnast to win individual all-around gold and team gold medals in a single Olympics.
