OTTAWA, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Sergei Gonchar's goal with 2:30 remaining in the game capped a third-period rally Tuesday that boosted the Ottawa Senators over Washington 3-2.
With the Sens trailing 2-1 entering the final period, Milan Michalek tallied 2:20 into the frame on an assist from Kyle Turris to forge a tie.
Gonchar then completed the rally with a blast from point that got past Michal Neuvirth and the Senators went on to break a two-game skid.
Jim O'Brien also scored and Craig Anderson made 31 saves in the win.
Neuvirth finished with 24 stops while Matt Hendricks and Troy Brouwer each found the net as Washington fell to 1-4-1 on the season.
